Alice Carrier told ChatGPT about her suicidal thoughts 12+ times over 18 months. The chatbot agreed crisis lines could feel downright dangerous, said maybe this is just the end, and told her I dont want to tell you to hang on if you dont believe it can ever get better. She died July 2, 2025. Her mother Kristie Carrier filed suit in San Francisco, June 2026. Part of 18+ coordinated wrongful death lawsuits against OpenAI.
